From an album with a collection of twenty pochoir pattern plates, titled 'Floréal: Dessins & Coloris Nouveaux' (Floreal: New Designs and Colours). Created by Emile-Allain Séguy and published in Paris in 1925 or earlier.
The collection contains a title page, half title, and twenty illustrated plates with semi-abstract motifs inspired on flowers, likely meant for textile and wallpaper designs. Executed with bold colours, the semi-abstract designs in the album present an interesting combination of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. The illustrations created by Séguy reveal his unique interest in the study of nature as a source of inspiration for artistic creation. The use of pochoir as a printing technique, popular in France at the turn of the twentieth century, was ideal for capturing the vivid colours of nature.
